Good boy! Adorable sausage dog Ralph helped his police officer owner arrest a wanted man while off-duty

An adorable sausage dog has been praised for helping his police officer owner arrest a wanted man while off-duty.

PC Beswick was walking his dog Ralph just before 12pm on Wednesday when he sighted a male who was wanted on recall to prison.

Armed only with his pint-sized dachshund, the officer approached the male and detained him whilst notifying other officers on the phone.

The 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

After the incident, a picture of Ralph was posted on the GMP Tameside North Facebook page.

He was captured standing proudly on the bonnet of a police car.

Officers said it was 'great first arrest' from 'PD Ralph' and mimicked him asking: "Can I be a police dog?"

The post was met with a positive reaction as dozens of admirers offered praise to Ralph.

Hayley said: "Omg he's so cute! Well done Officer Ralph."

Deborah added: "Bless him, see no need for height discrimination give him a badge!"

Charlotte commented: "Well done Ralph, and PC Beswick of course."

Terrence added: "Well done PC Ralph and PC Beswick. Excellent team work."
