All You Really Need To Know About Gonzaga (33-3)

(WCC), NCAA NET Rank: 2. West 1-seed

Gonzaga held off a late Florida State charge to pull away for a 72-58 win, opening it up in the final moments and covering the -8 spread. Normally, it’s the offense that takes care of things, but it was the defense from three that ended up taking down the Noles, holding them to 3-of-20 on the outside.

All You Really Need To Know About Texas Tech (29-6)

(Big 12), NCAA NET Rank: 10. West 3-seed

That was a masterpiece.

Michigan had the defense that could’ve and should’ve shut down the Red Raiders, but instead, it was the Tech D that pitched the gem, holding the Wolverines to 1-of-19 from three. Great from the field and without a slew of turnovers, Texas Tech never let Michigan make it a game.

The Red Raiders aren’t great on the boards, and they don’t hit a whole lot of threes, but the defense is suffocating, especially on the perimeter. They come up with a whole lot of blocked shots, too – it’s not going to be a layup-fest for the Bulldogs on the inside.

What’s Going To Happen

Gonzaga has the right team to take down Texas Tech. It makes the extra pass, it doesn’t turn the ball over, and it has the all-around offense to go on spurts the Red Raiders won’t.

Texas Tech can’t outrun Gonzaga, and it has more options than Michigan had to figure out how to break through the defensive mind trick that most teams can’t get past. It might not be pretty, but the Bulldogs will go to the Final Four.
