Gonzaga’s Jalen Suggs stuns UCLA with two wild plays, including OT buzzer beater

Jalen Suggs, have yourself a day. The 19-year-old for Gonzaga had not one, but two incredible moments in Saturday’s Final Four matchup, including the buzzer-beater three-pointer from nearly half court to give the Bulldogs the 93-90 win in overtime against UCLA.

After a back-and-forth regulation that wouldn’t decide a winner, No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 11 UCLA went into overtime to determine the team that would be moving onto the NCAA men’s basketball tournament final. In the final 10 seconds, Gonzaga had the 90-88 lead when UCLA’s Johnny Juzang got his own rebound to tie the game.

With three seconds remaining, Gonzaga got the ball to Suggs, who then proceeded to cross half court and post up for a shot with 0.8 seconds left on the clock. Miraculously, the shot went in and kept Gonzaga’s undefeated hopes alive as the Bulldogs advanced to the final on the buzzer beater.

The Shot™️ wasn’t Suggs’ only major moment in clutch time. With the score tied at 77-77 between the Bulldogs and Bruins with two minutes remaining in the second half, UCLA’s Cody Riley looked to take the ball to the hoop for a dunk attempt. However, Suggs was there alongside him to make an excellent defensive play to block the attempt and steal the ball away from UCLA.

And that wasn’t all! Suggs was able to take his own blocked pass and dribble up the court before sending a one-handed bounce pass to Drew Timme for his own dunk and the 79-77 lead.

What a sequence! The play, somehow, sounds even better in Russian.

That’s not one, but two incredible moments for Suggs in the span of about 20 minutes real time. This tweet pretty much sums up Suggs’ game-changing, career-altering moment for himself and for Gonzaga.

Now that is what March Madness is all about!
