Gone Girl actress Lisa Banes dead after tragic electric scooter hit-and-run

Gone Girl star Lisa Banes has died at the age of 65 after a tragic hit-and-run.

The talented actress has passed away after suffering severe injuries when she was struck by an electric scooter in New York on June 4.

Lisa’s close friends confirmed her death on Monday, after the star sadly lost her fight amid a ‘traumatic brain injury’, writes The Mirror.

A representative told Entertainment Tonight: “We are heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing.

“She was a woman of great spirit, kindness and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends.

“We were blessed to have had her in our lives.”

It was reported that Lisa was on her way to meet her wife Kathryn Kranhol when she was struck by the electric scooter while crossing the road in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York.

The driver is believed to have fled the scene and police are currently on the hunt for the owner of the electric scooter.

Following Lisa’s tragic death, a spokesperson for New York Police Department told Metro that no arrests have been made as of yet.

At the time of the horrific accident, Lisa's wife Kathryn Kranhold told The New York Post: "Lisa is in critical condition and we'll know more in the next few days.”

Following her untimely passing, Lisa’s good friend, singer Jill Sobule paid tribute to the film star.

Jill gushed about her ‘magnificent’ friend in the tearjerking tribute.

The heartbroken singer penned: “Just busted. Lisa Banes was magnificent, hilarious, and big-hearted – always helped me though the hard times.

“She was so beloved by so many.”

Lisa is best known for her Gone Girl role where she played Marybeth Elliott, the mother of Rosamund Pike character.

As well as the Ben Affleck hit, Lisa appeared in other blockbusters including 80s classics Cocktail and Young Guns.

She also reaped success in a number of TV roles, appearing in Star Trek as Doctor Renhol in an episode of Deep Space Nine, and had roles in in Murder She Wrote, Frasier, Six Feet Under, and Nashville.
