Goncalo Guedes opens up on "dream" transfer as Wolves star backs under-fire Bruno Lage

Goncalo Guedes admits that he has achieved his "dream" by playing in the Premier League... but insists there's much more to come after joining Wolves.

The 25-year-old made the £27.5million move to Molineux in August as Bruno Lage added another Portugal international to his squad, with Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Mateus Nunes amongst those currently at the club. Following the sale of Morgan Gibbs-White to Nottingham Forest, Guedes was brought in to bolster their forward line, and although he hasn't directly contributed to a goal, he has impressed.

Since his switch from the Spanish outfit Valencia, he has largely been starting on the left of a front three.. However, Lage's side have struggled in front of goal so far this season, scoring only three times in the Premier League thus far, which has seen them collect just six points from a possible 21. They have recorded just one win, a 1-0 success over Southampton on September 3.

Yet, while Wolves currently sit just outside the relegation places, Guedes is enjoying his time in the West Midlands and is backing under-fire boss Bruno Lage to turn things around.

He told the Wolves website : "It's very good. Every player dreams about playing in this league. I'm thoroughly enjoying it and I hope to take advantage of what the league has to bring. It's the best league in the world and I think every player has to enjoy every moment as if it were the last.

"Everything is going well. I obviously hoped to help the team a little more with goals and assists in the first couple of games, but it was a period of transition. Right now, I can only hope to help the best I can.

"We believe in the work we’re putting in, we want to be better, and I think the results will come our way because we've been working quite well and believe in what the manager says – that's essential."

Guedes spent five seasons in La Liga with Valenica, scoring 36 goals in 178 matches, following his move from Paris Saint-Germain. He started his career with Benfica, before joining PSG in deal worth around £26m. However, he struggled to live up to expectations at the Parc des Princes.

Now, Guedes is already embarking in his fourth different European league with Wolves and admitted the major difference between La Liga and the Premier League is the intensity.

He added: "The major difference for me is the intensity, the intensity of the league itself. Clubs having quality players turns the intensity up a notch which, in my opinion is, the difference between all leagues.

"I think the big difference is having less time to think. I have to be better prepared physically to react because all players are strong, and these are the two main things. Then it’s a matter of building that confidence up to give joy to all of Wolves’ supporters and that’s what matters."
