Shops in Perth and Kinross are being encouraged to take part in a window-dressing competition.
To mark the Solheim Cup, which comes to Perthshire next month, shops across the region are being asked to dress up their windows with a golf theme.
The Solheim Cup, taking place at Gleneagles from September 9 to 15, will see 100,000 spectators descending on Perthshire for the major sporting event, and will also be broadcast to 600 million homes worldwide.
Businesses taking part in the competition will be marked on their creativity, use of materials and resources and their visual impact.
The prize is a £250 cash sum, to be used for a team building exercise or celebration event, donated by event management company IMG.
Provost Dennis Melloy said: “We are looking for entrants who have decorated their businesses with golfing themes in the spirit of the Solheim Cup.
“I am looking forward to seeing an array of Solheim Cup themed, colourfully dressed shops and businesses, featuring warm welcoming messages to our visitors and celebrating this momentous occasion.”
Those taking part are also encouraged to use Perth and Kinross Council’s free Solheim Cup publicity materials to make their windows as eye-catching as possible ahead of the golfing tournament.
This toolkit includes window clings, flags and leaflets and can be obtained by emailing communications@pkc.gov.uk
Cllr Murray Lyle, leader of Perth and Kinross Council, added: “Support across Perth and Kinross for the 2019 Solheim Cup event has been fantastic.
“As we look towards September, and hosting one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, I hope many people will join me in showing their support for the Solheim Cup and the PING Junior Solheim Cup.”
Deadline for entries is noon on Monday, September 2.
