Spaniard Jon Rahm had a hole-in-one on his way to a course-record 10-under-par 61 that lifted him into contention in the third round at the WGC-Mexico Championship on Saturday.
Rahm's gap wedge disappeared on the second bounce at the 158-yard 17th hole, helping him to the lowest score of his professional career.
He goes into the final round four strokes behind American leader Justin Thomas, who carded 65 for a 15-under 198 score at Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City.
"I think a lot of us like to talk sometimes of how unlucky we get and today I was fortunate," said world number three Rahm.
"I hit the right shots and got the right bounces and took advantage of it. Today was definitely my lucky day combined with really good golf."
His fortunes certainly took a massive transformation from midway through his second round, when he was four over par for the tournament and going in the wrong direction.
"I wasn't the happiest camper," Rahm said.
"I had a couple of minutes to sit down and relax. Starting yesterday on that 10th hole (the putts) started going in and it carried on again today.
"I'm just really happy after the first two days I'm going to have a legitimate chance tomorrow."
