Golf fans loved Jim Nantz’s cameo on FOX’s U.S. Open broadcast

The U.S. Open broadcast from Pebble Beach this weekend is on FOX and FS1, meaning golf fans probably didn’t expect CBS’ Jim Nantz to show up on TV. Well, thanks to an invite from Joe Buck, Nantz did, in fact, have a cameo during Saturday afternoon’s broadcast.

Nantz basically lives on the picturesque Pebble Beach course, and on Thursday, Buck invited — begged, really — the CBS sportscaster to make an appearance at any point during the U.S. Open. Rather than text or call Nantz, Buck extended an invitation on live TV, saying:

“Why text something you can just say on national TV? Come on, Jim! Please? Join us here in the booth whatever day, whatever time works for you. We’ll make it work for us.”

And Nantz did stop by Saturday afternoon during the third round of the U.S. Open.

Golf fans loved the two broadcasters working together, but they also especially loved the fact that Nantz was wearing three collars.
