Golf club has 'deep clean' of premises after member tests positive

A private golf club temporarily shut its doors to allow a professional company to clean the premises after a member tested positive for coronavirus.

A tip-off sent to the ECHO alleged two members of Huyton and Prescot Golf Club had tested positive for coronavirus in the past week.

Thorough measures to clean the club premises are said to have taken place on Friday by a professional cleaning company and Public Health England were kept informed.

A spokesperson for the club said: “The club were advised on Friday morning, almost a day and a half post symptoms, and immediately closed the clubhouse, advised all members who may or may not have been in contact with this individual of the situation as per the government guidelines.”

The club premises they said: “Were not reopened until all protocols had been adhered to.”

Adding: “We have, throughout this pandemic, followed all PHE guidance and government legislation including risk assessing our premises and systems of operation, implementing increased sanitisation, track and trace and other measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.

“These measures have been communicated to our members and reinforced with club rules where appropriate

“The club did everything they possibly could under the circumstances.”
