Todd Goldstein is on track to become just the sixth Kangaroo to reach the 300-game milestone after re-signing with North Melbourne for another AFL season.
Goldstein was weighing up his future following back-to-back wooden spoons at the Kangaroos.
But the arrival of master coach Alastair Clarkson on a five-year deal helped convince forward Cam Zurhaar to re-sign earlier this week, and Goldstein followed suit on Friday.
The 34-year-old has played 295 AFL games since making his debut in 2008, and he is on track to reach the magical 300-milestone early next season.
Only Brent Harvey (432 ), Drew Petrie (316), Glenn Archer (311), Adam Simpson (306) and Wayne Schimmelbusch (306) sit above Goldstein in games played for North Melbourne.
"Todd has given his all to the club over such a long period so we are really pleased to have come to an agreement to extend his time at North Melbourne," North Melbourne's list manager Brady Rawlings said.
"Todd is one of the all-time greats of the North Melbourne Football Club.
"He is the ultimate professional in the way he goes about his football, he is loved by our members and supporters and equally so by his teammates and coaches.
"We look forward to seeing him continue to lead and guide our young group, as he charges towards his 300-game milestone."
Goldstein currently holds the record for most total hit outs (9251) in VFL/AFL history after he overtook Aaron Sandilands in round 17, 2021.
A solid 2022 season saw the dependable ruckman play all 22 games, finishing fourth in the club's best and fairest count.
