
Hikers walk through a field of Tobishima-kanzo, or amur daylilies, that are in full bloom on Sado Island in the picturesque Onogame area. The perennials are only found on Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture and Tobishima island in Yamagata Prefecture. About 1 million of the bright, golden-yellow daylilies grow at the base of a hill on the seashore. The flowers can be seen until around June 10.
