Golden Tate’s mistake will cost him $1.79 million

New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate will be forced to sit out the team’s first four games after losing his appeal of the suspension he was hit with for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Below is Tate’s statement on the league’s decision:

Tate will be forfeiting $1.797 million of his 2019 salary and bonus, which is the four-game prorated amount of his 16-game pay accordingly to spotrac.com.

Tate will be eligible to return to the Giants on September 30, after the Giants’ fourth regular season game. He can play and practice in the preseason and will begin his suspension when the Giants cut their roster to 53 players on Aug 31.
