Golden Tate contract: Giants WR to make $37.5M on 4-year deal

Looking to fill a vacancy following the blockbuster trade involving Odell Beckham Jr., the New York Giants are set to bring in veteran wide receiver Golden Tate.

Following reports that Big Blue will add Tate to the roster, the details of his four-year deal were reported as well. The former second-round pick is set to make $37.5 million over the multi-year deal with $23 million guaranteed, first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Giants are in desperate need of wide receiver help following the Beckham Jr. trade. The room will be led by Sterling Shepard and Corey Coleman (and now Tate), but the team will certainly be looking to add more bodies to the room with one of their 12 picks in April’s draft.

While the contract might be a little high for Tate, he should be able to step right in as an immediate starter working from the slot as a pass catcher that has been known to create yards after the catch.

With Shepard and Coleman set to be unrestricted free agents following the 2019 season, the Giants know they will have veteran presence in Tate leading the group, barring any changes.
