In an annual autumn event, neighborhood families and those who work in the area harvest rice from a rice paddy on the roof of a Roppongi Hills skyscraper on Saturday in Minato Ward, Tokyo.
Children wearing masks could be seen holding sickles and cutting golden-colored stalks of Fufufu, which is a new brand of rice from Toyama Prefecture, in an about 130-square-meter rice paddy.
"I had a lot of fun picking yummy-looking rice," said Kairi Kagatsume, 7, a second-grader in elementary school who participated in the event.
About 50 people participated this year, a smaller number compared to previous years, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
