Golden Globes Winners' List: 'Shogun' sweeps television awards; 'Emilia Perez' scores 4 wins

Hollywood’s elite gathered at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills for the 82nd Golden Globes, the first major showbiz awards ceremony of the year. This year’s standout contender is Jacques Audiard’s genre-defying narco-musical 'Emilia Perez', which leads the nominations with an unprecedented 10 nods for a comedy or musical. It earned nominations across multiple categories, including acting nods for Karla Sofia Gascon, Zoe Saldana, and Selena Gomez. With its strong showing, 'Emilia Perez' is hoping a successful night at the Globes will set the stage for Oscars triumphs in March.

The movie will compete for Best Comedy or Musical alongside Broadway adaptation 'Wicked', the Cannes favourite Anora, tennis drama 'Challengers', Jesse Eisenberg’s 'A Real Pain', and the body-horror film 'The Substance', starring Demi Moore.

Meanwhile, 'Wicked' earned four nominations, including for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who star as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. Other top contenders include Brady Corbet’s 'The Brutalist', which secured seven nods for its postwar narrative starring Adrien Brody, and Edward Berger’s papal thriller 'Conclave', with six nominations.

The Best Drama Film category is equally competitive, with nominees such as Bob Dylan biopic 'A Complete Unknown', sci-fi sequel 'Dune: Part Two', 1960s reform school tale 'Nickel Boys', and the 1972 Munich Olympics thriller September 5. 'The Brutalist' and 'Conclave' are considered frontrunners in this category, showcasing the Globes' inclination toward diverse and international storytelling.

On the television front, hit comedy 'The Bear' leads with five nominations, while historical epic 'Shogun' and fan-favourite 'Only Murders in the Building' each earned four nods.
