Golden Globes Fiji water girl 'sues the drinks brand for unauthorised use of her image'

A woman dubbed “Fiji Water woman” after photos of her working at the Golden Globes went viral is reportedly suing the beverage brand.

Kelleth Cuthbert went viral after she appeared behind celebrities on the red carpet while holding bottles of Fiji Water.

She showed up in the background of several celebrity images including that of Idris Elba, Amy Adams and Jamie Lee Curtis.

However Ms Cuthbert is now suing the company for “unauthorised use” of her “likeness and identity", according to The Blast.

Cuthbert has alleged the brand created a marketing campaign involving cardboard cutouts of the model at the event, which she did not authorise.

However Fiji water says it had Ms Cuthbert’s authorisation.

In a statement to NBC, it said: “This lawsuit is frivolous and entirely without merit. After the Golden Globes social media moment, we negotiated a generous agreement with Ms Cuthbert that she blatantly violated.

“We are confident that we will prevail in court. Throughout our history, we have had a sterling reputation working with talent.”
