The Golden Globes ceremony had its fair share of controversies and technical hiccups, but it was a very good night for British stars, who bagged 40 per cent of the awards.
Brits took home a total of 10, or 40 per cent, of the 25 trophies up for grabs on Sunday night (28 February), withThe Crown winning four of those.
The hit series about the royal family won for Best Television Series (Drama) and there were also awards for Gillian Anderson, as Margaret Thatcher, Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles and Emma Corrin as Princes Diana.
Anya Taylor-Joy, who has both American and British citizenship, won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series for another Netflix show, The Queen’s Gambit.
Sacha Baron Cohen picked up two prizes for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, while John Boyega won his first Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series in Steve McQueen’s Small Axe.

Daniel Kaluuya also won for Judas and the Black Messiah and Rosamund Pike for I Care A Lot.
When accepting his award, Kaluuya forgot to unmute himself on Zoom.
Viewers could only hear silence as Kaluuya gave his winners speech. The broadcast then cut away from Kaluuya – but the actor could suddenly be heard again, exclaiming: “You’re doing me dirty!”
Ahead of Sunday’s ceremony, Time’s Up took the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (the organisation behind the Golden Globes) to task for its lack of diversity in a tweet that read, “A cosmetic fix isn’t enough,” next to an image with the words: “Hollywood Foreign Press Association – Not a single Black member out of 87.”
Many high-profile figures spoke out on the issue during the ceremony, from the two hosts to Jane Fonda, Sterling K Brown, Sacha Baron Cohen, and more.
