Golden Globes 2023: How to watch, who’s presenting, and top nominations

Award season is upon us, with the Golden Globes kicking off the first of a series of events next week, followed by the Baftas and SAG awards in February, and the Oscars ceremony in March.

The Golden Globes will award the creators of TV and film, with movies The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once expected to take home trophies.

Actors Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Daniel Craig, and Ralph Fiennes have been nominated for acting awards, while directors James Cameron and Baz Luhrmann are up for the best director prize.

Who’s nominated for the Golden Globes?

The Evening Standard has compiled a full list of Golden Globes nominations.

But for just a glimpse into which movies have been given a nod, the nominations for best director of a motion picture, and for actress and actor in a motion picture, musical, or comedy are as follows.

Best Director, Motion Picture

  • Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert (Everything Everywhere All at Once)
  • Baz Luhrmann (Elvis)

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical, or Comedy

  • Lesley Manville (Mrs Harris Goes to Paris)
  • Margot Robbie (Babylon)
  • Anya Taylor-Joy (The Menu)
  • Emma Thompson (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande)
  • Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once)

Who’s presenting at the Golden Globes?

The Golden Globes will be hosted by comedian and actor Jerrod Carmichael, 35.

He has appeared in a number of films, including Neighbours (2014), The Disaster Artist (2017), and Transformers: The Last Knight (2017).

Carmichael’s HBO comedy special won him a Primetime Emmy award in 2022.

The celebrities tasked with presenting the awards include Ana De Armas, Ana Gasteyer, Billy Porter, Colman Domingo, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Natasha Lyonne, Nicole Byer, Niecy Nash-Betts, Quentin Tarantino, and Tracy Morgan.

How to watch the Golden Globes in the UK

The Golden Globes will take place on the evening of Tuesday, January 10. Due to the time difference, the ceremony will begin at 1am on the morning of Wednesday, January 11, in the UK.

The Golden Globes will air on Peacock, which can be accessed on Sky and NOW TV.
