Last year, countless actors transformed the Golden Globes red carpet – including Meryl Streep, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone – by choosing to wear all-black clothing in protest of sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and beyond.
While it was largely back to business as usual for this year’s dress code, on Sunday night, Hollywood continued to show its allegiance to the movement with many choosing to sport black and white bracelets and ribbons that read “Time’s Up x2”.
Designed by Arianne Phillips, who created the Time’s Up pins widely worn at last year’s Golden Globes, the new batch of accessories highlight the second year of the movement with proceeds going towards the Time’s Up legal defense fund.
As well as marking the campaign’s second year, 2019’s offering is also calling to double the number of women in leadership positions across industries.
So far, the fund has connected around 4,000 men and women with necessary legal resources to fight workplace harassment.
Stars such as this year’s host Andy Samberg, Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, Debra Messing, Rachel Brosnahan, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron all wore the accessories.
Ahead of the award show, a number of actors took to social media to reflect on the anniversary of Time’s Up.
Reese Witherspoon shared photos from last year’s red carpet, writing: “I will forever remember last year’s #GoldenGlobes, when we stood together in solidarity to fight for equality, parity, safety and inclusion.
“May we continue to celebrate risk takers in our industry and beyond, who challenge status quo and fight for change!”
Fellow Big Little Lies co-star Laura Dern also shared her memories of last year’s Golden Globes on Instagram before revealing that, for the second year in a row, she would be bringing Mónica Ramírez, a woman fighting for gender equality and justice, as her guest to the award show.
“We came together with hundreds of our sisters to send a message that #TIMESUP on sexual harassment and all forms of sexual violence,” she wrote.
“We will all be back together tonight with continued commitment of sharing our stories and our voices together.”
