Golden Globes 2019: Sandra Oh hailed a ‘legend’ by fans after she is nominated AND unveiled as host

Killing Eve star Sandra Oh has been hailed a “legend” by fans after she landed a nomination at the Golden Globes and was announced as a host for the glitzy event.

Nominations for the 76th Golden Globe Awards were revealed on Thursday and fans of the BBC drama were pleased to see Oh up for the Best Actress in a TV Series gong. The announcment came hours after it was revealed she will play host alongside Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg.

Supporters of the star declared themselves “lucky” to witness Oh’s success.

One user wrote: “Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg are hosting. I'm so lucky sometimes!”

Another commented: “Sandra Oh is nominated for her lead role in #KillingEve! And she's hosting #GoldenGlobes too! Maybe this won't be like the Emmy's, she might actually win!”

A third added: “Sandra Oh is not only hosting the #GoldenGlobes but now she's gonna win one...LEGEND.”

Oh will face off against the likes of Julia Roberts and Keri Russell for the prize.

Earlier this year, Oh made history as she became the first Asian woman to be nominated for a Lead Actress Emmy.

The 46-year-old previously spoke to Elle about discrimination against Asian actors in Hollywood, claiming producers frequently offer her roles as the friend or the sidekick.

She said she became so accustomed that when she received the script for Killing Eve she was unaware she was being offered the lead role.

She said: “[It’s] a heartbreak that I feel for my community of Asian-Americans and people who are just not represented, who are not reflected.

“[I remember] quickly scrolling through my phone, trying to find my part, and I’m talking to my agent like, 'I don’t get it. What’s the part?'.
