Golden Globe dresses: from Kate Moss to Sienna Miller, Julia Roberts to Angelina Jolie, we round up the best of the red carpet fashion

Kicking off Awards season at the start of every new year, the Golden Globes provides not only an indicator as to who may be the big award winners over the next couple of months but also which stars and designers look set to dominate the season's red carpets.

Having begun in 1944 as an informal lunch acknowledging and applauding the year in film, this year's ceremony marks its 75th.

Being one of the biggest dates on the Hollywood calendar, the gowns (and occasional dress-alternatives, a la Ms Julia Roberts) often garner just as many headlines - if not more - than the awards themselves.

With stars such as Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie, Sienna Miller, Claudia Schiffer, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander having all attended, we look back at the most memorable gowns from the event over the years.

With designers desperate to dress the year's biggest stars, those whose gowns make regular appearances include the likes of Versace, Valentino, Dior, Chanel and Marchesa.

However, this year the red carpet may seem a little more uniform than usual as actresses are set to only don black gowns, in protest against sexual harassment within the industry.

Nevertheless, with a list of nominees including Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams, Margot Robbie and Reese Witherspoon, we are sure 2018's red carpet looks are still set to be one to watch.
