Golden Girl 2025: Arsenal and Lionesses star rewarded for Euro 2025 heroics as shortlist revealed

Arsenal and England star Michelle Agyemang has been shortlisted for the Golden Girl 2025 award.

The forward played a key role as a super-sub for the Lionesses as Sarina Wiegman’s side retained their European crown in Switzerland over the summer.

Agyemang, now back on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion, scored an equaliser to make it 2-2 in the quarter-finals against Sweden, and she repeated her heroics against Italy in the semi-finals, notching in the 96th minute to force extra time. She won the young player of the tournament award as a result.

Joining Agyemang on the 10-strong shortlist is Chelsea’s Wieke Kaptein, the 20-year-old Dutch midfielder.

Kaptein played 33 times for the treble-winning Blues last term, scoring four times and laying on four assists.

Manchester City’s Iman Beney is the other Women’s Super League representative on the list, having started every game for Switzerland on their run to the Euro 2025 quarters.

The 19-year-old moved to City in the summer just gone from BSC YB Frauen - Young Boys’ women’s side.
