
Ginkgo nuts have begun to turn golden-yellow in central Tokyo, bringing an early splash of autumnal color to the concrete jungle. Passengers departing Tokyo Station on Thursday morning could look up through their clear umbrellas to admire the fruit filled boughs lining Gyoko-dori avenue, at the start of a cool and drizzly day. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the Thursday morning low of 18.3 C recorded in the capital was 3.4 C cooler than an average year.
