Golden Boot standings ahead of England vs Italy Euro 2020 final

As Euro 2020 enters its final match on Sunday, a number of players will have an eye on winning the Golden Boot award.

England face Italy in the final at Wembley, though the top of the goalscoring charts is covered by a very familiar face.

Cristiano Ronaldo is joint top of the Euro 2020 scoring charts with five goals for Portugal, despite playing only four games before their exit to Belgium in the last-16.

He is joined at the top by Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick who has also scored five goals before their elimination in the quarter-finals.

UEFA, however, stated that in the event of a tie, assists would determine the winner, and with one to his name against Germany, Ronaldo would currently edge the award.

However, he could still be beaten by a number of players in this Sunday's final, including England stars Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling.

The Tottenham striker's Golden Boot chances looked unlikely after he failed to score in the group stage and faced widespread criticism after some lacklustre performances where he couldn't get into the game.

Since then, he has scored in the winner against Germany, a brace against Ukraine and the deciding goal in extra-time against Denmark.

To win the award he would need to score two goals, otherwise, he would need a goal and two assists against Italy to finish ahead of Ronaldo due to the Portuguese star reaching his numbers in fewer minutes played.

Sterling found the net in wins over Croatia, the Czech Republic and Germany, so he has three goals to his name presently.

The Manchester City winger would either need to score a hat-trick, or a brace with one assist to move ahead of the Portuguese superstar.

Italy meanwhile have five players on two goals including Ciro Immobile, Matteo Pessina, Manuel Locatelli, Federico Chiesa and Lorenzo Insigne.

It would take a big effort on Sunday for any Italian player to win it as those mentioned would need to score a hat-trick to tie Ronaldo, though the best chance falls to Immobile who has two assists to his name.
