Gold standard set by Coatbridge schools as they win Rights Respecting Award for second time

Two Coatbridge schools are glistening with glory after scooping a top educational accolade - for a second time.

Greenhill and Drumpark primaries, who share a campus, have once again won the Gold Rights Respecting School Award (RSA).

This prestigious prize recognises "schools that place the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of their ethos and curriculum".

Pupils and staff from both schools were thrilled with the second success and joined forces to celebrate their amazing achievement.

The children enjoyed sharing their UNCRC Class Charters, eating some cake and receiving gold medals in honour of their wonderful work.

Drumpark Primary head teacher Gillian Pollock told Lanarkshire Live : "I am immensely proud to achieve the re-accreditation of our Gold RRSA Award.

"The rights are integral to all that we do within the schools and our school communities.

"I think it is a testament to the excellent collaboration and working relationship between the two schools that we continued our rights journey together during a year that saw lots of COVID restrictions and a lockdown.”

Lorraine McBride, head teacher at Greenhill Primary, added: "I am so excited to be able to announce that we have been re-accredited with the Gold RRSA Award.

"The rights inform all that we do within our schools and are truly embedded throughout both school communities.

"I would like to say a huge thanks to all the pupils, parents and staff for showing such a great commitment to the RRSA.”
