Gold smuggling case: Swapna Suresh's Cliff House visit official, clarifies Kerala CMO

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan's office has clarified on Wednesday that he has never denied meeting gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh at the Cliff House.

Swapna has been to the chief minister's official residence for official purposes, the CMO said. The CMO released a video clip of a press conference of the chief minister in which he says that he has met Swapna at the Cliff House.

The video clip is of a press conference convened by the chief minister on October 13, 2020, in which he can be seen saying that Swapna had come to the Cliff House along with the UAE consul general.

"Swapna was the secretary of UAE consul general, and she had accompanied him whenever he came to meet me at my office and Cliff House," the chief minister had said in the press conference. The video was released as a counter to the allegation raised by Swapna on Tuesday that she had met the chief minister and his family members several times at the Cliff House.

Swapna had alleged that the chief minister has said that he does not know her, and he hasn't met her. She claimed said she had held discussions with the CM's wife, daughter, and son several times at the Cliff House. She had also threatened that she will disclose the details of the discussions in due course of time.

Swapna had said she will stand by her statement given under Section 164 of the CrPC no matter how many cases are foisted on her.
