Gok Wan is bringing a massive virtual rave to Leeds this weekend

Fashion icon and DJ Gok Wan is bringing his hugely popular kitchen rave to Leeds for a show-stopping charity event.

Isolation Nation presents 4 Corners of House will take place on Saturday, August 22 from 7pm and feature house sets from Gok and some of the UK’s brightest DJ talents.

The Channel 4 star started Isolation Nation during the coronavirus pandemic and streams have topped one million in recent weeks. Realising he was onto something big, Gok decided to take Isolation Nation to the next level and set about planning the UK’s biggest virtual rave.

Having played some of his favourite DJ gigs in Leeds, Gok couldn’t think of a better city to stage his first large scale virtual Isolation Nation event. Event Prop Hire, AV Matrix and Pink Gorilla Hairy Lemon have collaborated on the project to stage a state-of-the-art production.

Artists joining Gok include Angel Lee, Kudo & Fish and The Roscoe Brothers. The event will be streamed live across each of the DJs’ Facebook pages and via Select Radio.

All proceeds raised by the event will go to Feeding Britain. The charity was created during the pandemic to help feed low income families and works closely with food banks and local communities. Just £10 can help provide 30 meals, so every penny donated really counts.

Gok, who shot to fame back in 2004 through his show How to Look Good Naked, said: ‘’When the nation went into lockdown, I knew I had to remain creative to avoid going stir crazy. Isolation Nation began as a bit of fun but has rapidly snowballed into a brand of its own with an amazing online community.’’

‘’I’ve played numerous events in Leeds and the people are incredibly warm and really know how to party. Feeding Britain is by far one of the best things to come out of 2020 and we really need to raise as much money for them as possible. So, my advice to you for Saturday would be to get our favourite drinks on ice, tune in, dance, have fun and most importantly, dig deep. It’s going to be the party to end all parties.’’

The event will take place from Event Prop Hire’s creative studio in Leeds and feature four DJ stations for each of the artists to perform. All four DJ acts will be bringing their own unique flavour to the party and viewers can expect a mix of classic party bangers, funky house, disco, and commercial house.

There will be immersive backdrops for Isolation Nation with organisers promoting a production scale worthy of primetime TV.

AV Matrix, will facilitate the live streaming and provide DJ equipment and giant LED screens to bring the event to life. Based in Wetherby, the brand, has been responsible for creating large scale productions for popstars Kylie Minogue, Take That and Olly Murs.

Leeds-based Pink Gorilla Hairy Lemon is promoting the event. Deborah De Vittoris, co-founder and director of Pink Gorilla Hairy Lemon, said: “Like many industries, the impact of Covid has been brutal to those working in events.

“Our whole business is about bringing people together and the reality is that is not going to happen any time soon. In response to that, we looked to diversify our businesses by offering virtual events with a creative edge and we’re over the moon to be working with Gok.’’
