'Going to invest heavily' - Newcastle would-be supremo to re-ignite Rafa's recruitment and Academy plan

Amanda Staveley has suggested that Newcastle United's would-be owners are prepared to "invest heavily" into the rebuilding the club's Academy and on the recruitment front if the Premier League finally approve their bid to buy the club.

The frustration on Tyneside continues but supporters are not letting up in terms of applying pressure on the Premier League with a well-back journey to London on July 16 set to raise the campaign for transparency even higher.

Staveley, who is waiting patiently for the result of Mike Ashley's legal fight along with the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, said the consortium are eager to get started.

Two years ago Rafa Benitez - who was initially the consortium's choice as boss - had plans to re-ignite the scouting network and the Academy plan, but he left as the takeover bid drifted and he could not agree a new deal.

Staveley, speaking to Tyne Tees, said: "I know that we will take our time.

"We don't expect.

"We will be inheriting a club, and we need to make the right decisions with the right people.

"What I do know is we are going to invest heavily into, not only players but the Academy, the grounds, the infrastructure and the surrounding areas."

Staveley also said fans would get a say in what changes at Newcastle.

She added: "Every single part of the club will be looked at and developed.

"We'll make sure that the decisions we make, the fans are a part of those decisions.

"I can't say any more than that because we are in such an extraordinary time in football.

"We don't even have fans in the stadium, so getting the doors open will be an exciting point as well."
