Going for two wedding outfits? Why you should make your second look a bridal trouser suit

For decades bridal dresses have led the way.

But, that all changed in 2018, as celebrities ditched tradition in order to champion trousers for their wedding celebrations.

Putting a contemporary spin on bridal wear, Priyanka Chopra recently stunned in a pale peach crop top and trousers by Ralph and Russo for her pre-wedding ceremony. A look which was reminiscent of Amal Clooney's Stella McCartney two-set during her 2014 Venetian civil ceremony to George Clooney.

In 2018 Gwyneth Paltrow also shimmied into a Stella McCartney jumpsuit during her wedding reception in September. A modern bridal look that was first debuted by fashion-forward Solange Knowles, who broke the bridal mould when she cycled to her ceremony in 2014 wearing a cream Stephane Rolland jumpsuit.

Millie Mackintosh also went for an alternative bridal look, arriving at Chelsea Old Town Hall in a Bianca Jagger-inspired sleek white ensemble made up of Max Mara trousers, a Les Heroine trumpet sleeved top and wide brim hat.

If you want to embrace the modern bridal trend, here are three designers to go to:

1. Stella McCartney

The fashion house behind Gwyneth Paltrow and Amal Clooney's alternative bridal looks revealed its first bridal collection this year and among a replica of Meghan Markle's famous wedding reception dress were two stand-out trouser designs.

The contemporary collection puts a new perspective on modern bridal dressing by featuring one impeccably tailored all-white suit, as well as a figure-hugging jumpsuit covered in traditional lace detail.

2. Andrea Hawkes

If it's a classic bridal jumpsuit you are after London-based label Andrea Hawkes has you sorted with its timeless wide-leg 'Mila jumpsuit', which also boasts a low v-neck - perfect for partying the night away.

3. Naeem Khan

If you want something really individual look no further than Naeem Khan, the Indian-American fashion designer known for his ornate and intricate details.

From a silk faille sweetheart jumpsuit with unique overskirt, to a risqué lace jumpsuit, the brand has numerous alternative luxury choices.
