'Going for it' - Nottingham Forest stepping up attempts to sign Benfica's Jota

Nottingham Forest are stepping up their attempts to sign Benfica attacker Jota.

According to Antonis Oikonomidis, who has proven to be a reliable source on Twitter, the Reds are 'going for it' in their bid to sign the talented 20-year old.

The Reds are eager to bolster their squad this summer with boss Sabri Lamouchi already landing striker Lyle Taylor, midfielder Jack Colback and defender Tyler Blackett.

And they have already been rumoured to be in for Jota's Benfica team-mate David Tavares.

Jota can operate on left wing, right wing or through the middle as a central striker.

Reports in the Portuguese press say  Forest  have already made their interest known to Benfica.

Record, via  Sport Witness, claim Jota's preference is a move to these shores with Olympiacos - also owned by Evangelos Marinakis - also said to be interested in the 21-year-old.

Benfica would only be willing to let Jota move on loan given that they rate him highly, signing the midfielder up to a new deal at the start of the year with a bumped-up release clause.

But Jota, like any other player, would prefer a move to the Premier League but a Championship move would also appeal.
