Gogglebox viewers react to 'emotional' episode with many reduced to tears

Gogglebox viewers were reduced to tears during Friday night's episode which was dominated by the Queen's passing.

The episode started on a somber mood looking at how people across the world reacted to Her Majesty death - with stars of the show expressing their sadness, as they wept while King Charles addressed the nation.

They also watched veteran presenter Huw Edwards break the historic moment on BBC News.

Fan-favourite Jenny Newby, who sits alongside her best mate Lee Riley, broke down crying over the monarch and proceeded to sing the national anthem in a moving tribute.

After reaching for the tissues, Jenny said: "When she first took over, she said 'Be it a long reign or a short reign' she would reign until the end and that's what she did."

Jenny expressed her emotions with best pal Lee (Channel 4)

Lee affectionately agreed: "She has."

Later on, Jenny shared early childhood memory she had of the Queen as photos of Her late Majesty appeared on the screen during the BBC broadcast.

Jenny said: "We used to have pictures like that in our school when we was little."

Despite her tears, Jenny sung along to the national anthem that played during the BBC montage.

Fans of the show shared their emotion on social media.

One person wrote: "I am in tears at Gogglebox tonight, seeing people cry always makes me cry. #gogglebox"

Another wrote: "Such an emotional and strong start to Gogglebox tonight. They got the tone bang on. #gogglebox"

"Tears are streaming down my face. 'Gogglebox, tweeted someone else.

While another viewer commented: "I've not really cried at the Queen's passing, but omg... gogglebox was mega sad tonight. #Googlebox"
