Gogglebox still filming during coronavirus lockdown as show makes big changes

Unlike other TV shows, Gogglebox will continue to film during the coronvirus lockdown.

Over the past few many programmes have fallen victim to the COVID-19 pandemic with both Loose Women and Lorraine scrapped; Saturday Night Takeaway filming without an audience, soaps like EastEnders and Coronation Street halting production and The Voice UK and Britain's Got Talent delaying live shows until later in the year.

But the show WILL go on for Gogglebox as producers have made changes to ensure that filming can indeed continue in spite of coronavirus.

The key difference is that the cast, including County Durham couple Anne and Ken, won't be welcoming into a camera crew into their home for the foreseeable future.

Instead they’ll have rigged cameras so their reactions can still be filmed but they won't come into contact with production staff.

Ian Katz, Channel 4's director of programming said: "The coronavirus outbreak is an enormous creative challenge for all broadcasters and though it is having a profound impact on getting some of our productions onto screen, it’s also a time when public service broadcasters like Channel 4 can step up and help people navigate through the extraordinary challenges we all now face.
