Gogglebox stars ‘uncertain’ of Ellie Warner’s future on Channel 4 show, says Lee Riley

Gogglebox star Lee Riley has said that the cast of the hit Channel 4 show are in the dark on Ellie Warner’s future on the show after her boyfriend’s horror brain injury.

Lee, 52, opened up about his Gogglebox cast member’s absence after her boyfriend Nat was hit by a car in March.

The 31-year-old Gogglebox fan favourite has been absent from the Channel 4 show since the incident and is currently receiving help and support from brain injury charity Headway, which helps survivors and their families.

Speaking on the BAFTA TV red carpet alongside his Gogglebox partner Jenny Newby, Lee told The Sun of Ellie : “I don't know anything because we don't get in touch with each other.

“I don't know about her private life. I only know what I've read, but of course I wish her and her boyfriend the absolute best.”

While Ellie has yet to speak about Nat's injuries publicly, she is believed to be concerned over “what the future might hold”.

Ellie broke her silence on social media to ask for donations to the charity Headway in lieu of gifts for her birthday.

Deputy Chief Executive of Headway, Luke Griggs, told The Sun: “The thoughts of everyone at Headway are with Nat and Ellie, as well as their family and friends.

“We understand the pain and anguish of sitting by the hospital bedside of a loved one following a brain injury. Often the concern around their current condition is compounded by uncertainty over what the future may hold.”

He added that they were "extremely grateful" that Ellie was supporting the charity and that the "immediate aftermath of a brain injury can be daunting".

Ellie wrote on her Facebook page last week: "For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Headway - the brain injury association. I've chosen this charity because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope that you'll consider contributing as a way of celebrating with me.

"Every little bit will help me reach my goal. I've included information about Headway - the brain injury association below.

"Headway's mission is to promote the understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide vital information, support and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers."
