Gogglebox stars ring Boris Johnson's mobile phone - and someone answered

It has been one of the more random news stories of the week - that Prime Minister Boris Johnson's mobile phone number has been readily available for the public to find online for the past 15 years.

And it was a source of much amusement on Channel 4's Gogglebox when the news item featured as one of their items to review.

Naturally, a host of the Goggleboxers couldn't resist googling to find Boris's number to try for themselves.

On the ITV bulletin they were showed, the news reporter had also tried ringing the number to be met with an answerphone message saying: "This person's phone is switched off"

Sisters Ellie and Izzi Warner tried and they went straight to answerphone as well.

But when brother and sister Pete and Sophie Sandiford tried the mobile number it actually rang - and a shocked Sophie couldn't believe it when someone then answered.

Pete screamed: "Hang up! Hang up! Who was it?" As a giggling Sophie said: "No idea!"

Pete said: "I hope they don't ring back. That's why I didn't want to do it. MI5 are going to be round here in the minute and we'll be in the back of a van."

Sophie said: "I'll block the number".

The scene left viewers in stitches with one hailing it: "TV gold" while another said: "Watching Pete and Sophie panic when their call to Boris was answered - Priceless".

And if Boris hadn't already thought to swap his mobile number after the news story broke earlier this week, he will definitely want to after the Gogglebox episode.

For "Boris Johnson's number" was soon trending on Twitter as Channel 4 viewers all said they were going to try and call it now to replicate the scenes on the show.
