Gogglebox stars' real jobs from a nail technician to a pub landlady

Gogglebox has quickly become one of the nation's favourite shows, with millions of us eagerly waiting for Friday night's episode.

During lockdown the show has become even more vital to keep us entertained, as we're unable to go to the pub or out for dinner under the current restrictions.

We all have our favourite Gogglebox star, that makes us crack up laughing or sometimes shed a tear, but away from the camera many of the show's participants have a regular day job.

They boast a range of professions from engineer and pub landlady to hairdresser and even a former UKIP candidate - reports Mirror Online.

Fans were moved to tears during a recent show as Pete Sandiford comforted sister Sophie over Boris Johnson's new lockdown announcement.

As shops close as part of new lockdown measures, Sophie was worried sick that it would mean she and others around her could be losing their job.

But what does she do away from the cameras? Here's a look at what each of the cast do when they're not entertaining the nation from their sofas.

Jenny and Lee

Who else to start the list but fan-favourite, caravan-dwelling best mates, Jenny and Lee?

The mates from Hull met when Jenny was a pub landlady at Lee's local The Crown Inn in East Riding.

While she's left pint-pulling behind her now, it's not known what Lee does.

The Malones

The Malones on Gogglebox (Channel 4)

One of Gogglebox's biggest families, the Malones are known for their blunt analysis, array of often untouched cakes and sofa-dwelling dogs.

Dad Tom is a lorry driver, and mum Julie is a receptionist.

Shaun works as a football coach, while Tom has gone on to carve out a niche career as both a model and a choreographer - and boasts hundreds of thousands of fans on TikTok.

The Michaels

It's not clear what dad Andrew does now, but his candidacy to become a UKIP MP in 2015 saw the family booted off the show.

Channel 4 doesn't allow political candidates to appear as show stars, but after Andrew's bid for the Hastings and Rye seat was unsuccessful, the family were invited back.

It's not clear what mum Carolyne and son Louis do.

Ellie and Izzi

Leeds sisters Ellie and Izzi joined in series six, and have since become favourites for their unapologetic and often cutting sense of humour.

Ellie works as a hairdresser, while Izzi is a nail technician.

Peter and Sophie

It was window dresser Sophie's tears that had fans weeping on one episode.

The tea-guzzling brother-sister duo recently came second - just behind Jenny and Lee - on a poll of Gogglebox fan favourite stars.

Joining in 2018, they often crack wise at each other's expense.

Pete works in insurance.

David and Shirley

(Channel 4)

Caerphilly couple David and Shirley have been together now for over 40 years, joining Gogglebox in 2015.

Shirley works in retail, while David has a job in a factory.

Daniel and Stephen

Hairdresser Stephen's first Gogglebox appearance was alongside then-boyfriend Chris.

But after their split, he was briefly joined by his mum, and now by husband Daniel, who also works as a hairdresser.

Giles and Mary

Wiltshire couple Giles and Mary are renowned for their incredibly posh quips.

While Giles indulges his creative side as an artist, Mary has crafted an impressive journalistic career.

She's written for the likes of Tatler and The Spectator.

The Siddiquis

The Siddiqui family have proved incredibly popular with Gogglebox fans. (Channel 4)

The brothers-dad trio Baasit, Umar and Sid are Gogglebox staples.

Dad Sid was an engineer before retiring, while Umar works as an IT techinician.

Baasit, meanwhile, is an IT teacher - clearly computers run in the family.

The Plummers

Smiley Bristol brothers Tremaine, Twaine and Tristan joined back in series eight, and are all sport-mad.

Tristan plays football for Hereford FC, while Twaine plays for Bradford town.

Twaine also presents a breakfast radio show, while Tremaine is a chef.
