Gogglebox stars in tears watching Rose and Giovanni's silent dance on Strictly

The cast of Gogglebox were feeling very emotional on Friday's episode as they tuned into last weekend's Strictly Come Dancing.

Week eight of the BBC competition saw Rose Ayling-Ellis and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice perform their Couple's Choice routine.

The outstanding performance featured a breathtaking 'silent moment' as the EastEnders actress paid tribute to the deaf community.

Viewers watching at home were in tears along with Strictly judge Anton Du Beke, and the stars of Gogglebox were no different.

As they watched Rose and Giovanni's performance, several of the cast were left with goosebumps and wiping away tears.

"They've stopped the music!" Sophie Sandiford shouted to brother Pete as she realised what was happening.

Stephen Webb looked emotional as he commented: "Isn't that lovely?

"Ohhhhhhh this is the bit for the deaf people," Jenny Newby said to her best friend Lee Riley as her voice broke.

She was later heard shouting: "Get in there!" and applauding Rose and Giovanni as she wiped away tears.

Sophie later said to Pete: "You can't help but smile watching this can ya? This is my favourite ever Strictly dance I've ever watched."

"I think it's the best one ever," Pete agreed.

It comes after body language expert and author Judi James examined the pair's body language as they appeared on Friday's This Morning.

Judi explained how gestures made by Giovanni - who is known for wooing the ladies - reveal how he is totally in awe of the EastEnders actress and she believes his admiration has led to lothario Giovanni being seen "in a new light".

Sharing her expert opinion with the Mirror, Judi said: "Giovanni and Rose’s body language is adorable and that’s official. Confirmation and proof of that fact (if it was needed) came from the soppy smiles on the faces of both Dermot and Alison as they sat chatting on the This Morning couch.

"Neither are fans of overkill emotions and Dermot is a reality show veteran so he’s been around the block when it comes to fake emotional displays but even he fell back in awe when the pair were first introduced."

Highlighting how Giovanni is unable to hide his fondness for Rose, Judi adds: "When it comes to cheese Strictly is the over-ripe Camembert of prime time tv, issuing more gush per show than Niagara Falls.

"All the dancers and their celebrity partners claim to adore each other but in Giovanni’s case the non-verbal signs are that this is actually the case."

Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
