Gogglebox stars get emotional at Jodie Comer drama Help

The stars of Gogglebox were visibly moved as they watched a Channel 4 drama focusing on the crisis in care homes at the start of the pandemic.

Help, set in a fictional Liverpool care home, told the moving story of the relationship between young care home worker Sarah (Jodie Comer) and a patient called Tony (Stephen Graham) with early-onset Alzheimer's.

Pete, watching with sister Sophie in Blackpool, pointed out: "We didn't see any of this because we were locked down at home.

"It hits home doesn't it?"

One harrowing scene showed Sarah enlisting Tony's help to turn stricken resident Kenny on to his front to help him breathe more easily after she struggled to phone for help.

"That'll stay with her for the rest of her life and all," Jenny in Hull said - her voice breaking with emotion.

"That's what'll happen to a lot of these nurses and doctors."

"I can't believe all these people got was a clap at 8 o'clock on a Thursday," Mica in London said.
