Gogglebox star Tom on Malone family leaving the show and co-star's exit

Fans of the hit TV show Gogglebox were left shocked when Tom Malone quit the programme earlier in the year.

But he later revealed he had other TV plans in the works.

In a recent interview the star also addressed Gogglebox star Paige Deville's surprise exit and his fears that his family might get axed from the show.

Earlier this month, Paige revealed she was quitting due to claims of “long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions and zero aftercare support".

Tom admitted the filming schedule was “long” but had nothing but good words to say about the team and regularly stays in contact with them, Yorkshire Live reports.

The star told The Sun: “I think my experience was different. I am not saying Paige is wrong, because obviously she’s had her own experiences.

“For me it was quite pleasant, I had a call from the people who deal with us afterwards saying they were sorry to see me go but wished me the best.

“They have always offered me any support and said if there is anything I need, there are people on hand to help with that sort of stuff.

“So in all honesty I can't fault them with that. Everything in terms of after-support they did offer that to me.”

When Tom decided to leave Gogglebox he was worried his family - mum Julie, dad Tom (Sr) and brother Shaun - who were on the show with him would get sacked.

“There was a bit of a conversation about them staying on the show, if that would be possible,” he said.

“I know in the past people have left to do stuff before and the whole family has been taken off the show. Because my family were able to stay on it, it was a much easier decision.”

Since leaving the show Tom has started work on a number of different TV projects, including landing himself a place on the new show The Real Dirty Dancing.

The 26-year-old said his new job is “ideal” as it allows him to mix both TV and dance. He’s since said he’d love to follow in Ashley Banjo's footsteps working on dance talent shows.
