Gogglebox star Jenny Newby in shock at best friend Lee Riley's changing looks

Jenny Newby shared a throwback snap of her Gogglebox co-star Lee Riley as she wished him a happy birthday. The stars are firm favourites on the Channel 4 programme and often share amusing pictures of each other on social media.

A new series premieres tomorrow with Jenny and Lee set to invite viewers into their Hull caravan once again as they make hilarious observations on the week's best TV. The day before the show, Jenny marked her co-star's birthday by posting a golden oldie snap of Lee on Instagram.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, she was in shock at his transformation, saying: "Just got to wish Lee a Happy 54th birthday. What happened to you? Lots of love Jenny."

Thousands of fans of the pair liked the photo with many sharing their birthday wishes and mutual appreciation of Lee's childhood snap. Janice said: "Have an awesome Birthday Lee!

"You were such a handsome young Lad and you have never really changed."

Lisa Baggs said: "Happy Birthday Lee ! Have a wonderful day! Lots of love from us all"

Jacqueline posted: "Happy birthday lee", and Samantha said: "Happy birthday Lee. Have a great day"

Karen jokingly wrote: "Happy birthday Lee av a lovely day and yes what happened", while Vivien wrote: "Aww what a cute picture Happy birthday Lee."

Jenny and Lee have been best friends for many years - long before they were invited to star on the hit Channel 4 show. They met more than 20 years ago, when Jenny was the landlady of The Crown pub in Paull, East Riding, and Lee was a customer.

In 2021 they decided to self-isolate together for nine weeks so they could safely film Gogglebox. The Channel 4 show will bring back other familiar faces such as the Sandiford siblings, the Malones and the Warner sisters for the 20th series.

It began in 2013 and has won numerous awards during its run, including two BAFTAs. This series is back much sooner than many expected, as the celebrity version has not long come to an end and will be its 20th run.

It will air at its normal time of 9pm on Channel 4. Once the episode has finished airing, fans can catch up on All 4 where you can also stream the previous series of the show.
