Gogglebox star initially refused to join show until bosses' offer changed his mind

It's hard to believe but Gogglebox has been on our screens for ten years - and of course it has been a total hit with viewers ever since.

Channel 4 favourites Stephen Webb and Daniel Lustig opened up on their Gogglebox highlights in a recent interview as they reflect back on their time on the popular programme.

Stephen has been on the show since its first episode and first appeared with ex-partner Chris before being joined by his mum Pat. He now shares the sofa with his husband Daniel.

Speaking about when they were first approached to do the show, the hairdresser revealed that initially he wasn't interested.

Stephen told New Magazine: "I said no originally, I didn't want to be known for some awful reality show. But they won me around when they said they would pay us.

"We weren't really told what it was going to be, so I never really understood it. Then, when the show went out, my friends and family were all texting and it just seemed everyone was laughing.

"As soon as I watched it, I got it. I didn't know it was going to last for 10 years, but I knew it was good."

Daniel then added that he still can't believe how successful the show is and will never get used to people recognising him in the street.

He went on to say that he was once recognised by Zoe Ball while Stephen added he had a starstruck moment with Alan Carr, who mistakenly thought the hairdresser had said something "horrible" about the comedian on the show.

There are currently only two pairs of the original Gogglebox cast still appearing on the show - Stephen and the Siddiqui family.

Stephen and Daniel will take part in the 10th anniversary special (CHANNEL 4)

Gogglebox will be back on our screens for a special episode celebrating the show's 10th anniversary.

Airing on March 11, the epsiode is said to be "a chance to look back at our favourite TV from the last decade and also our favourite Goggleboxers with whom we've watched it".

Googglebox: 10 Year Anniversary Special is on Channel 4 on Saturday at 9pm.
