Gogglebox star Georgia Bell makes decision on career away from Channel 4 show as she makes announcement

Gogglebox star Georgia Bell has made an announcement about her career away from appearing on the small screen. Fans of the Channel 4 show are used to seeing the 22-year-old alongside her best pal Abbie Lynn each Friday night as they dish their opinions on the latest TV shows and breaking news.

But as with all of the other Gogglebox stars, Georgis has a day job away from filming. You would previously have been able to find the hairdresser in the salon, however, she has been on maternity leave since the arrival of her first child, a son named Hugh.

Georgia announced her baby boy's arrival back in July last year after confirming she was pregnant while on Gogglebox. Sharing a snap of her bundle of joy, who she shares with boyfriend Josh Newby, wrapped up in a white baby grow, she penned in the Instagram caption at the time: "Our beautiful boy has made his entrance!"

She added: "12/07/22 at 12:31pm - 7lbs7.5ounz. Your perfect in every way Hugh James Newby." Abbie was, of course, among the first to respond to the news, writing: "Congratulations to you both! He is beautiful in every way, I am such a proud Aunty and best friend xxxx."

And it has since been revealed that Abbie will be little Hugh's godmother. Following the return of Gogglebox earlier this year, in an episode aired at the beginning of March, Abbie was practically lost for words when pal Georgia asked her a very special question. "Abs, I’ve got a surprise for you," Georgia said in the TV scenes, handing her friend a box.

"You need to open it," she told her, with Abbie later opening a fortune cookie with a note inside. "Abbie, I know you’ll teach me how to be as crazy as you," Abbie began reading the note, written from baby Hugh. "And love me all the way, will you be my godmother?’, the note concluded.

Abbie let out a high-pitched shriek of shock, before running to her best friend for a tight hug. "Oh my God!" she exclaimed. "Hugh wants you to be his godmother," Georgia told her to which Abbie replied in disbelief: "You're joking?" to which a smiley Georgia assured her that she wasn’t. "I’m gonna be Hugh's godmother! What? Oh my God!" Abbie cried with happiness.

But back to Georgia and the first-time mum has revealed that she won't be going back to hairdressing once her maternity leave comes to an end. Alongside a picture of her son, she wrote to her clients on her Instagram Story: "To all my wonderful clients, I just want to thank every single of you for all your support over the years of hairdressing.

"For those who may not already know, after much consideration, I have decided I will not be continuing hairdressing once my maternity leave is over! My next step will be something more suitable to family life." She added: "I can't thank you all enough and thank you so much to Daniel John for everything and being so amazing and supportive over the years."
