Gogglebox star Amy Tapper opens up about vile abuse she received from trolls

Gogglebox star Amy Tapper has spoken out about the extent of the trolling she received whilst appearing on the show.

The 20-year-old appeared on the Channel 4 hit at the age of 13 alongside her mum, dad and older brother before they left the show in 2018.

And speaking on ITV's Lorraine on Friday, Amy opened up about the vile comments she was subject to and how she has overhauled her lifestyle which has resulted in a three stone weight loss.

She told the show that she would often end up searching her name on social media to see exactly what was being said about her.

Amy first appeared alongside her family on Gogglebox at 13 (ITV)

"When I was younger… I was 13 when I started filming Gogglebox, I cared a lot about what people thought. I used to look up my name on Twitter, but what I found is no-one tagged you," she told show host Lorraine Kelly.

"So unless they tagged my name in, I wasn't going to see it. They [the trolls] used to say horrible things. As I got older, I realised they don’t actually know me. And they don't know what I do behind closed doors. It annoys me."

Amy has lost three stone so far (ITV)

But Amy's prime reason for appearing on the show was to discuss her incredible weight loss journey.

The Celebs Go Dating star has shed three stone, dropping from a size 26 to 20.

"It has taken me a lot of years to learn but I am still young so it's exercise, a lifestyle change," Amy explained.

She also told Lorraine about the trolling she received (ITV)

"The gym has been the best thing for me mentally. I just came back from a gap year. Honestly, if I hadn't of gone to the gym I don't know where I'd be mentally. The stress. You don't realise it."

She added: "Over the Christmas period I didn't go to the gym. It wasn't until I stopped that I realised I needed to go back. I've still got a long way to go."
