Gogglebox's Tom Malone says show isn't scripted but all controversial comments are cut

Gogglebox star Tom Malone has set the record straight on whether or not the Channel 4 reality show is scripted.

In recent months, fans of the hit reality show have debated if the cast's reactions are genuine, or if producers have encouraged them to act in a certain way when catching up on the hottest TV of the week.

However, in a recent interview with the Express, Gogglebox favourite Tom admitted that the show is based on genuine reactions.

The 27-year-old TV star admitted that while producers may cut some controversial comments made by his family after filming, they have never been warned to react in a certain manner.

“If you watch my family on the show, you’ll know straight away we literally just say the first thing that comes into our heads.

“Sometimes it’s not always a common view, me and my family have quite a blunt sense of humour.

“But there’s never anything they say to us like, ‘You can’t say this you can’t say that’ because it’s about our opinions.”

Tom went on: “If there is ever anything too controversial, they just wouldn’t show it.”

The much-loved reality star added that each episode is checked by a lawyer before it goes on air.

Alongside his family, Tom appeared on Gogglebox for six years, having first appeared on screen in 2014.

Since leaving the Channel 4 series, the star has bagged a new job which involves testing chairs for business and home solutions specialist BiGDUG.

Sharing the news with his fans on social media, Tom revealed: “As you know I've just quit my job at Gogglebox because I was sick of getting paid to sit on my a***.
