Gogglebox's Tom Malone Jr. reveals his unusual new job after quitting hit show

Tom Malone says he quit Gogglebox on the eve of the show's return because he was getting fed up of being paid to watch telly.

Now he has revealed his first job since saying goodbye to the show also involves sitting down.

Tom has signed up as a chair-tester of office supplies after announcing his availability by posing with a cardboard sign reading: "Back on the market."

The dancer left the hit show after six years – and says he just felt a change of direction was needed.

Tom, 26, says he is excited about the future and test-driving office furniture is just the start for him.

He said: "As you know I've just quit my job at Gogglebox because I was sick of getting paid to sit on my a***.

"Now for my first real brand job I’m going to be sitting on my a*** – you can’t really make it up.

"New opportunities are knocking on the door and it's time to explore them."

Revealing he has signed up as a chair-tester for office supplies company BiGDUG, Tom added: "As I've had so much experience sitting around they've asked me to test out some of their new chairs."

Tom announced his retirement from the show in February writing: "So after 6 and a half years it’s finally time to put down the remote, and to say goodbye to Gogglebox.

"I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid.

"PS. Don’t worry my family @themalonesgb and @shaunmalone95 will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday."

Taking to TikTok, Tom opened up about the perks of being on the programme - as well as the restrictions imposed on them for filming.

He says perks of being on the C4 show included weekly takeaways (TikTok)

He told his followers: "Without a doubt, one of the best perks of Gogglebox is that every time we film, which is twice a week, the crew get us a takeaway of our choosing."

He added: "We don't know any other families on the show, we've never met.

"Occasionally we'll Tweet each other, but we don't know each other - or like meet up or anything like that. I've never met any of them
