Gogglebox's Tom Malone announces new job after leaving show

Former Gogglebox star Tom Malone Junior has landed a new gig after leaving the show.

The 27-year-old announced before the start of the brand new series earlier this month that he was leaving the Channel 4 show.

Tom told his gutted social media followers: "So after six years it's finally time to put down the remote and say goodbye to Gogglebox.

"I've loved every minute and I'm eternally grateful to Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for allowing me to be a part of the show."

As for his reasoning, he simply said: "But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it's time to explore them.

"I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid!"

Now he has revealed his first job since saying goodbye to the show.

He may have put down the remote for good, but the Mancunian will be continuing to use his experience 'sitting down' as the new 'Head of Chair Testing'.

Yes, you read that right.

The tongue-in-cheek role will see him dishing out his thoughts on a range of seating on his social media and rating them for comfort.

Tom said: "Some may say that I’m overqualified for the job but it’s all about transferable skills, right?

"I've just left a show sitting on my a**e for a living – and now for my first real brand job I’m going to be sitting on arse – you can’t really make it up!"

The new brand deal is with business and home solutions specialist BiGDUG.

Tom Jnr may have left Gogglebox but his parents Tom and Julie and brother Shaun have continued through the latest series.
