Gogglebox's Shirley not recognised by co-stars as she pouts for snap

Gogglebox star Shirley Griffiths looked completely different as she posed for a new Instagram snap.

So much so, the Welsh Channel 4 star wasn't even recognisable to her fellow TV critics.

Shirley and husband Dave are often seen from the comfort of their own sofa at their home in Caerphilly.

But with the show having been off-screen for months now, fans are always keen to see what the down-to-earth Goggleboxers are up to.

And or Shirley, it appears it is a bit of dressing up.

In an image posted to the couple's joint Instagram page, Shirley is rocking a long black dress and straw hat.

But the biggest surprise is that the 66-years-old's usual cropped blonde locks were suddenly down to her waist and bleach silver thanks to a wig.

"Lady of mystery," Dave wrote alongside the image. "Our Shirley Gogglebox."

Fellow Gogglebox star Daniel Lustig was among the first to comment, sarcastically writing: "She looks very shy," to which a reply from the couple joked: "Looks can be deceiving lustig."

But Leeds hairdresser Ellie Warner couldn't believe it.

"I almost didn’t recognise her," she commented.

And fans also had a lot to say.

" Christ Shirl I thought it was Lady Ga, Ga," one said.

Another commented: "You suit the long hair Shirley."

"Absolutely LOVE THIS," a third added.

A fourth replied: "Love a bit of shirl."

"Girl! Strike that pose! Pretty lady," another said.

The names of Madonna and Debbie Harry were also thrown around by fans of the pair.

It won't be long now until we see the couple back dishing out their opinion on the latest TV shows.

Gogglebox is due back on-screens next month after finding series 17 back in May.
