Gogglebox's Shirley divulges the filthy donations handed to her charity shop

We all love searching for a bargain in a charity shop but sometimes we come across some *ahem* unusual finds.

In Friday's episode of Gogglebox fan favourite Shirley Griffiths recounted getting much more than she bargained for when working in her local charity shop in Caerphilly .

She told husband Dave – and thousands of viewers watching at home across the UK – how someone had recently donated an adult item of clothing to the shop.

"In the shop this week we had this collar... I thought it was a dog's lead so I thought I'd put it out for a pound. I thought it was for like a Chihuahua," she said. "So one of the volunteers come [sic] running in and says: 'Who put this out?'

"I said: 'I did.' She said: 'Well, it's not for a dog.' It was for a man's penis apparently!"

Dave replied: "Freaking hell! Who drops that off in a shop?" To which Shirley continued: "I don't know but that's not the only thing we've had – we've had dildos and everything.

"We've had a pink dildo. We've had loads of things in there – sheep, blown-up sheep, half a bottle of vodka, and a pair of handcuffs. In the same bag!"

Understandably viewers were in hysterics and many took to social media to ask where they could get their hands on the donated items.

One viewer, Lee Bromfield, said on social media: "Last 15 mins on Gogglebox tonight with the Mad Squirrel lady, Shirley's shop story and the sex instruction woman with the cushion was absolutely p*** funny. Dave and Shirley were hilarious."

Another viewer, Anne Hewson, joked: "What kind of shop does Shirley work in?"

While a third, known as Red Witch on Twitter, said: "What shop does Shirley work in...Asking for a friend!"

The hilarious episode of the hit series was first broadcast on Friday night on Channel 4 and will be rerun over the weekend and next week. You can watch a clip of the show – and hear Shirley recount her finds in the charity shop – at the top of this article.

Shirley and her husband Dave joined the cast of the show, which is now onto its 18th series, in 2015 and quickly became fan favourites.

The couple live in Caerphilly and have two grown-up children and a two-year-old French bulldog.
