Gogglebox's Pete Sandiford's life off-screen from wife and new baby to real job

Pete Sandiford and his sister Sophie have been Gogglebox favourites since they first burst on to our screens in 2017.

Pete, 26, and Sophie, 24, hilariously narrate telly shows together amid cheeky humour and touching moments - including the time Sophie broke down in tears over her fears about the pandemic.

And during the years they've been regular staples of our Friday nights, the brother and sister have gone through enormous life changes of their own.

Sophie recently revealed she had embarked on a brand new career as a florist, while Pete has got married and started a family.

Pete revealed the exciting news that he's become a dad at the National Television Awards on Thursday night while walking the red carpet with Sophie.

He confirmed he has become a father for the first time to a baby boy, as well as marrying his fiancee, Paige Yeomans.

The TV star told that he is "overwhelmed" by his new role as a doting father before adding that the little tot is a "cool lad."

"It's a bit overwhelming, got it all going on at the moment!" he said.

Revealing the sex of his first child, Pete added: "He's cool little lad, takes after his mum not me!"

Pete then quipped: "I’ve been up all night, I slept on the train here - got suitcases under my eyes, you just got me at a good time now."

He also told OK! that he had tied the knot with Paige, announcing: "I'm married now! It was nerve-wracking but the best day of my life. Well, second best day as I’m a dad now, too.

"I'm buzzing [to be at the NTAs] as I got a full night's sleep in a hotel so I'm well happy."

He added: "[Being a dad is] tiring. The lack of sleep is not cool but it's definitely worth it."

Pete continued: "He's basically a miniature version of me and Paige and that's what I always wanted so I feel well lucky."

Pete had shared a picture of Paige back in October 2020, and he was cruelly trolled over their relationship at first.

Taking to Instagram that month, Pete captioned a selfie of the pair: "My Mrs and best mate what more could I ask for".

He cheekily added: "Don’t worry @sophiesandiford1 you are a close second best friend [laughing emoji] This was taken last year FYI".

And he announced on Gogglebox that he was expecting a baby, telling Sophie she was going to be an aunt as he presented her with the baby scan on his phone.

He told her: "Here we go, look at this!" as he confessed he could not believe he was going to be a father.

As she gazed at the images, he revealed he didn't know what he and Paige were having as he said she could be expecting a niece or a nephew.

And the happy news of Pete and Paige's engagement was revealed on Gogglebox earlier this year.

Letting slip on the show, Sophie asked her brother: "Do you feel any different now that you've got engaged?"

Pete answered: "Yeah, I think, I feel like an even bigger responsibility. I don't know why. I'm going to have a wife."

Pete also revealed that he intended for Sophie to fill the traditional "best man" role as his "best wo-man".

"Well it's going to be my best wo-man, isn't it?" Pete responded. "It will be you."

Sophie replied: "Correct, course it will! I'll not be wearing a tux, I'll be wearing my own dress."

Pete answered back: "Woah! You're going to have to wear a suit."

However, Sophie remained adamant, noting: "I'm not going to be wearing a friggin' suit."

The siblings also share a pet pooch, an adorable and excitable corgi named Colin who has made special appearances on Gogglebox.

The Sandiford siblings also have some famous comedy connections - they're the great-nephews and great-nieces of Chuckle Brothers Paul and Barry.

Pete and Sophie have shared snaps with their famous great-uncles before after Barry Chuckle revealed their connection in 2018 on social media.

After Barry Chuckle's death that same year, Sophie paid tribute, noting: "A truly lovely and funny man to be around.

"You filled millions of childhoods with laughter and entertainment including mine and Peters.

"You will be sadly missed by many. Rest in peace Uncle Barry. Lots of love from me, to you."

The pair have continued filming from the same home in Blackpool during the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is unknown if other family members live there.

At the home they boast an enviable novelty mug collection and a large chrome fridge with built-in oven and grill, plus wooden floors and bright white walls throughout.

Sophie posted earlier this year with a photo of the pile of mugs in her kitchen: "Another cupboard sacrificed for the mug collection... who needs food cupboards anyway".

The Gogglebox siblings earn £1,500 per month from the show, but they can also rake in thousands from social media posts, as they have both amassed a huge following on Instagram.

Depending on how much sponsored content they produced, the pair could earn an eye-watering £108k a year on the platform.

Despite this, Pete has a job in insurance as well, while Sophie announced her new florist job in March after losing her retail job at Debenhams due to the pandemic.

In an episode of Gogglebox, Sophie decided to show her brother - and viewers watching at home - some of her floral creations.

"I’ve been practicing my flowers, do you want to see the bouquets I’ve made?" she asked Pete.

"Go on then, let’s have a look," he replied, as Sophie warned him: "It’s got eucalyptus in."

Moments later, Pete moaned: "I've got eucalyptus in my eye! Why didn’t you tell me not to rub my eyes?!"

"Obviously I’ll have to put a little disclaimer on," Sophie joked, as Pete told his sister: "I’m suing, I’m gonna ruin your business now before it’s even started darling!

"Well, you’ve blinded your first customer," he added, as Sophie replied bluntly: "Never mind."

Ahead of Gogglebox's return to our screens, Pete sported an interesting new look in a picture posted on social media.

Deciding to photo up his image, Pete took to the trimmer to shave off his beard, however things didn't exactly go to plan, as proved in a hilarious picture.

Catching him mid-trim, Sophie posted a picture on her Instagram account, showing Pete wearing an orange polo shirt, with only one half of his beard shaved, and he looked a bit concerned about it.

Sophie couldn't resist poking fun at her brother, quipping: "Always check the battery levels on your beard trimmer…"
