Gogglebox's Pete compares Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock to a dog and owner

Gogglebox's Pete sparked hilarity on Friday night (March 26) as he compared prime minister Boris Johnson and health secretary Matt Hancock to a dog and his owner.

As the cast watched a BBC News segment where it was announced that the UK had broken its daily Covid-19 vaccination record for the second day in a row last week, Pete said: "I bet Matt Hancock is going in to Boris's office and Boris is going: 'Good boy. Good boy!'"

As he acted out the fantasy meeting at No. 10, Pete was ruffling the hair of the imaginary dog. Sister Sophie was of course overcome with her trademark fit of giggles.

The rest of the cast reacted with glee at the news that vaccination rates were continuing apace. "Oh that's brilliant," said Jenny. "Bring it on, Britain!"

Umar Siddiqui, meanwhile, said: "Finally, some sort of record number that's good news!"

Bristol's own Mary and Marina still haven't been seen this series - hopefully they'll be back soon. In the meantime, we still have local representation with the Plummer brothers.

Gogglebox airs at 9pm on Channel 4 every Friday.
