Gogglebox's Paige Deville speaks out after dramatically quitting show

Gogglebox star Paige Deville says she's "relieved" she's not on the C hannel 4 show anymore after she dramatically quit following rumours of a rift with her mum Sally Hayward.

Paige and Sally, who has also left the show, have been fan favourites since bursting onto our screens in 2019, but Paige says Gogglebox is "not as glamorous as it may appear".

She said: "I really am in a good place at the moment. I am really happy. I had two years at Gogglebox and it was fun to begin with," reports Birmingham Live.

"But it was long hours and hard work and not as glamorous as it may appear.

"My life wasn't my own. I had to be very careful on social media as representatives at Gogglebox would monitor it. I would be hassled when I went shopping. Now I feel I have got my life back."

In September, it was reported that the issues Paige was having with her family were the main reason for leaving Gogglebox.

The mum and daughter duo were nowhere to be seen when the new season aired on September 17, leaving fans wondering what had happened.

As viewers questioned their absence, Paige took to Twitter to announce that they she and her mum had decided to leave the show for good.

But in a shocking turn of events Paige, 25, has since vowed to cut off contact with her mother in posts made on Twitter last week.

"To clarify, people thinking I fell out with my mom over Gogglebox, my “mom” is an absolute disgrace who I wish to never speak to again due to a serious family issue NOT about a tv show," she tweeted.

In more drama, Paige came under fire for comments she made out the Gogglebox producers not providing enough aftercare.

Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder weighed in on the debate and said: "No support about what? What do you need support for?

"What the f*** do you need support for on f***** Gogglebox for f**** sake.

"Is she a bit of a snowflake or whatever they are called or woke?"

However Paige fired back saying: "In regards to Shaun, that’s exactly what I meant by support to deal with trolls like you."

She continued to clarify what she meant by 'aftercare'.

"It was aimed at the hidden pressures of the show, Feeling nervous about how you may come across to 3 mil viewers, pressures of being funny and making people laugh and if not then judged by trolls and messaged daily abuse about suicide," she said.

"Comments like the ones he [Shaun] has made implying I am woke or a snowflake are not helpful. You need the aftercare to deal with trolls like him."

Gogglebox is on Channel 4 on Friday at 9pm.
